About Us
Demeter is a platform for women to stand up against harassment and tell their story and further take a stand for themselves.
What is Demeter?
Demeter is an efficient and effective platform for women to take a stand against gender discrimination and the harassment that women face on a daily basis at workplaces, at restaurants, etc.
Inspiration
Every 73 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted.More sexual harassment claims in the U.S. are filed in the restaurant industry than in any other, where as many as 90% of women reportedly experience some form of sexual harassment. Paying homage to the strength and grit that Demeter embodies in the greek story of Persephone and Hades, we came up with a solution. If women could take a stand for themselves by telling their stories based on locations they've visited, we would better be able triangulate locations where these circumstances happen in large numbers.
How we built it?
We have used HTML5, CSS3, SASS for the Front-End, Javascript , Custom Google APIs for the backend, Firebase for Database and Authentication.
